How Do I Get Music? #

[The following post is really just a tenuous link to this cartoon that I thought was funny.]

Recently my friend from crack honky-tonk troubadors The Scuffers told me that their self-produced new album would be available through iTunes. I was rather impressed that Apple were letting unknown bands use their software to sell their wares. I’ve only ever used iTunes to initialise my iPod and have never even looked at the store, and there could be all this obscure music waiting for me. So, late adopter that I am, I went to search out iTunes music.

But wait. After a couple of searches all I could find was the apple website, that no use. A couple more searches didn’t help. Is it possible, you cannot download or even browse itunes songs online? Really? Jeezo, they really don’t want my money* (admittedly that post is from 2005 but I can’t find anything else).

If true, it is the equivalent of a shop that locks it’s doors and only lets in ‘the right kind of people’. I’ve been told these shops do exist, but it is no way for a corporation that wants to make money to behave.

It is so wrong-headed that I must be wrong. Someone please explain, I feel like an idiot newbie.

* Another thing I can never understand is why people go to all this effort. If Apple don’t want my money, I’ll go elsewhere.
